# ACL SAVE

> Push ACL definitions to replica nodes.

Use `ACL SAVE` to make sure this node's ACL users and rules have been propagated to its replicas.

Standard Redis writes `ACL SAVE` to an `aclfile` on disk. This deployment has no such file: instead, `ACL SAVE` pushes the current primary's in-memory ACL definitions out to its replicas. Changes made with [`ACL SETUSER`](/docs/redis/commands/server/acl-setuser) and [`ACL DELUSER`](/docs/redis/commands/server/acl-deluser) are already propagated automatically, so `SAVE` is rarely needed in normal operation.

## Syntax

```redis theme={"system"}
ACL SAVE
```

## Arguments

This command takes no arguments.

## Important points

* There is no ACL file to save to; this pushes the primary's ACL state to its replicas instead.

## Response

The reply reports the result of the operation. Error replies have the same shape in RESP2 and RESP3 and are surfaced as exceptions by the SDKs below.

| Protocol | Reply              |
| -------- | ------------------ |
| RESP2    | Simple string `OK` |
| RESP3    | Simple string `OK` |

<Note>
  Client libraries often decode bulk strings, maps, sets, and numeric strings into language-native values. The table describes the Redis wire reply.
</Note>

## Examples

TCP examples use the TLS `REDIS_URL` from the Upstash console. REST examples use `UPSTASH_REDIS_REST_URL` and `UPSTASH_REDIS_REST_TOKEN`.
